The Hoveys Hit Sanur
Robin and I spent the 14th traveling around the south of Bali. First she extended her visa at Sanur port, next we headed to Denpasar Airport to wait for Mark and Gail.
We had a delicious breakfast of avocado on toast with poached eggs, then we went to Starbucks at the arrivals area. Robin decided she NEEDED a luwak coffee cup. Luwaks being the animal which shits out the best coffee in the world.
Before long we saw the hoveys walking out of the airport and the long awaited reunion arrived.
From the airport we went to our hotel in Sanur. It had a lovely central pool with a swim up bar which we made use of the second day! For dinner we went to a beach shack selling fresh seafood
Day 2 we relaxed by the pool and read our books. Gail and Robin had a massage in the evening so Mark and I went to the pub!
Day 3 we had a tour around Southern Bali. It began at the blue lagoon snorkeling spot. The water was clear and we saw some new fish types including a blue spotted ray. Gail managed to spot a small turtle and we saw a yellow ribbon eel.
The next stop was the monkey bar. This quiet paradise was hidden up a mountain top. The infinity pool gave way to views across the island and out to sea. We had a scrummy lunch and a quick swim before our next activity.
Up until now the weather was on our side. As soon as we reached the ATV point the heavens opened and with it a biblical torrent. Despite the rain we covered up with rain ponchos and hairnets and began our adventure. We raced through thigh high water and drove up and down cliffs, through dark tunnels, under waterfalls, and around small circuit tracks. We all had a blast and forgot all about the bad weather!
For dinner we visited a lovely hotel where Gail and Mark tried out the tasting platter. Robin had duck and I had beef randang.
