London- Abu Dhabi
Morning of the September 1st I got my hair cut. Now it doesn’t make a difference if we pack the shower head as I have 1/3 of what I had before. I am not happy but at the rate my hair grows it won’t be long before I wish I was still rocking the Mowgli jungle book cut.
Robin and her family arrived at 1pm for a Portuguese themed bbq last supper. Vick cooked up a piri-piri chicken, chorizo sausage, salad, sardine paste and bread, olives, corn on the cob, and Robin’s mum Gail brought a broccoli and noodle salad to get us into the spirit of Asia. We finished off with a berry cheesecake.
We had two scares in the space of 10 minutes. First, the flight was showing and cancelled and that we had been rebooked. Thankfully the rebooking was on the exact same flights we had chosen in the first place. Thanks Etihad for the first heart attack. Second, Etihad proudly asked us for our Thai visas. We were under the impression that as UK residents we get 60 days as tourists visa free. After messing around with the check in we were fine and Etihad had caused us more unnecessary stress. By this point, as two people with ADHD, I was ready to pull what was left of my hair out.
The airport was not as eventful with short queues and an easy bag check experience. Simon was our paparazzi embarrassing the check in staff. Photos pending… We said our goodbyes and boarded flight 1 of 2 with end destination Bangkok. The flight was good and they gave out eye masks which allowed me to recreate the original karate kid look with my new hair style. See attached image.
We are currently waiting in Abu Dhabi airport for our next flight. As Brits we homed in to the one place we know. Costa. A nice tuna panini at 7am and an iced tea. All fueled for the trip to Bangkok.
