Full Moon Party, Fancy Hotel Break, Market Food
We spent the day relaxing and lounging by the pool. Wanting something packed with vitamins we sourced salads and poke bowls paired with an orange, ginger, and turmeric blended juice.
After a rest we headed to the sister hostel for the pre full moon party. They had a bbq of chicken kebabs, potato salad, and egg fried rice. We sipped on g&tâs (not as good as my dads) and had fun playing pool and beer pong. Then the body paint came out and we channeled our inner artists and pasted flowers, mushrooms, and illegible scribbles on our arms and the arms of other partiers.
Before long it was time to hop in the taxi and drive to Haad Rin beach. Parking took ages as drunk painted partygoers stumbled around in the road. We paid 200 baht for entrance and received our full moon wristbands; a now treasured souvenir.
Reaching the beach we realized the scale of the party. It was more festival than party with 4 or 5 dj booths positioned like life guard towers in the sand, each one blasting different music which was a little disorienting. We boogied for around 40 minutes before feeling bored. The full moon party is overhyped but we were happy to have gone. A run to 7/11 for a toastie and we were in bed by 3am. Other people stayed and even slept on the beach!
In the morning we grabbed a taxi and head to our hotel. To make up for our abysmal hostel day a few days prior I booked a surprise hotel stay for Robin and I.
At reception we got given complimentary lemon grass tea and towels to use at the infinity pool whilst we waited for our room to be ready. We hired a bike out of the hotel and grabbed food at our favourite market Pantip.
After a nap and a watch of the new Grand Tour we are planing on going to a different market for dinner at a place with life music.
Tomorrow we head to Koh Tao. For now, a sleep in a bed which in comparison to the hostel life, feels like a cloud.
