Boracay Beaching, Hearty Meals, Holiday
We were sad to have our time in boracay draw to a close. It was the best holiday destination. As we lay there tanning on our final day on the sparsely populated white sand beach we looked to each other and said ‘now this feels like a holiday’. There is a difference between traveling and a holiday. Boracay was our rest time.
We stopped tracking out daily budget and instead went to the restaurants and ate what we wanted to it. Believe us, pasta from Giuseppe’s tastes a lot better then our kettle tuna penne!
Doing nothing but tanning, swimming, and eating was a lovely reset for us. We’re so used to being busy and searching for the next adventure we forgot how nice it is to rest and let your body chill for a few days.
We will definitely return to boracay and the Philippines, probably for a holiday rather than backpacking. It is not the easiest country to get around given that it is made up of an unfathomable number of islands with some only reachable in certain tides by canoe! There are no set buses or bus times, ferries can decide to leave 45 minutes late or early, and most places require a propeller plane to visit.
Our Philippine return list is: Siargao, Boracay. We would also love to visit other islands. The people in this country have been amazing. Always a smile in the street, helpful when you are lost, great at recommending food and activities. The family that helped us when we were robbed deserve a shout out too!
We are now in Cebu city for a few days before we fly to Indonesia. We need to reorganize our big bags as we drift away from beach and towards the mountains.
