VIP Bus, Da Lat, Maze Bar
Today we had a travel day to Da Lat. Da Lat is around a 7 hour drive up from HCMC with a large elevation gain. The road we were on was the connection road 20 which has nickname ‘death road’ due to fog, steep cliffs, and high traffic.
The VIP sleeper bus was amazing. We each had our own futuristic sleeper pod with reclined bed, big screen, led lights, blinds, and personal aircon. We enjoyed the ride by napping, travel planning, and munching on our snacks.
We arrived without an issue. Being a mountain town, De Lat is a lot cooler than HCMC. We were greeted to a nice 18°C when we arrived. Locals were kitted out in puffer jackets, hats, gloves, and scarfs. We soon envied their layers as we got cold ourselves! I have no idea how we will adjust in England.
We found the night market and had some food before exploring a bar nearby called Maze Bar. We are going back tomorrow to get more photos. The bar is on 5 levels with a normal staircase at the front. The back portion is like a cave with tight holes, steep ladders, faces and animals carved out of stone, wooden tables, stone chairs carved into the walls, doors to nowhere, and secret passageways. We spent over 4 hours wandering the close corridors contorting our bodies to be able to meander through the tunnels.
Before long it was 1am and time to head back to sleep. Big day of exploring tomorrow!
