Ubud Bali, Rain, White Water Rafting

Yesterday we spent the whole day traveling to Bali. We had a 40 minute car to the ferry port, 2 hours on the ferry, and then 6 hours by car to Ubud. Indonesia is a huge place!

Today we got picked up at 10am to go white water rafting. It was raining the heaviest we had seen in a while but that was okay given we were to get wet anyway.

After a short safety briefing we began our trip. We went 10km down the Ayung river (means beautiful). The rapids were levels 1-3 with nothing too crazy. We get to go down the side of a dam where they had made a water slide to reduce the steepness of the drop.

Either side of the river were huge cliffs around 100m tall decorated with jungle. Occasionally these have way to various upmarket resorts. Not on our budget!

After the rafting we had a buffet lunch included.

We went back to the hostel before going shopping. We grabbed a few goodies for friends and family before having an early dinner. Tomorrow we tackle mount batur so need an early night.
