Shark and Turtle Snorkeling, Climbing Shoes, ‘Pub Crawl’

I should start by saying this post was delayed. The snorkeling company sent the photos from the day a day later.

We woke up early and had a granola and yogurt bowl for breakfast. We got picked up by a taxi, for those wondering a taxi here is an enclosed bench mounted onto a pick up truck, and got taken to the pier. We were meeting once again with Isaac and a few others he had met at his hostel, mostly Brits once again.

To get to our main boat we first had to taxi over on a long boat. The waves were very choppy and we took in a lot of water over the sides. It did not help that we had a full boat and so were sat very low in the water. After joking about our snorkeling tour starting early in the case of a capsize, we disembarked onto the main boat. This was an activity packed boat with a spiral water slide, diving board, and a climbing wall on the outside.

Stop one was Koh Nangyan national park. This area is protected as a reef rebuilding and preservation area which means an entrance fee of 250 baht per person. The island has a view point and some great snorkeling. We saw much larger fish than Phi Phi with multicolored species munching on coral.

On returning to the boat it was lunch time. They had prepared an impressive spread of curry, spicy stir fry, steamed veg, and a sandwich bar with acted as a mini subway. We could have as much as we wanted and Isaac even went up for 5ths!

After lunch we went to lighthouse point. Here we managed to find a reef shark and the snorkeling team captured some photos of it swimming around. We also had free time to zoom down the slide, jump, and climb and jump off the climbing wall.

We had two more stops before returning to the pier. One was Shark Bay where we saw no sharks but instead saw turtles! Disappointingly I don’t think it was my sponsored one from Malaysia.

On returning to the pier the sun had started to set and our bellies were rumbling. We parted from out new friends and showered before reuniting for dinner. We went to a street food place for our fried noodles, curries, and ginger chicken before deciding to go for our own ‘pub crawl’.

We played smash ball and pool in a bar before finding karaoke and somewhere to boogie. Unfortunately the song list was too long so we never got to perform our Adele and Lady Gaga.

Exhausted, we grabbed a late night 7/11 toastie, said our goodbyes and went to bed.
