Ha Giang Day 2

Up bright and early at 7am to leave at 8:30am. We set off with our first landmark being Tham Na Pass, a famous picture spot in Ha Giang showing the common switch back bend roads we are navigating. We got the shot before continuing on.

We stopped at various viewpoints whilst exploring the landscape. We passed villages with local tribes wearing the mountain clothing- navy with colorful accents.

Next we stopped at the Royal palace. It was not extravagant like the Thai Palaces or the tombs in Vietnam. It was modest with wooden features and small floor plan. There was a dog Robin liked and danced with.

We carried on to the Chinese Border location and got to walk across to a ‘no man’s land’ area which the Chinese like to call theirs. The Chinese monitor the location so we could only be there for 5 minutes before carrying on. We went to another border area, this one recognized as a tourist spot and marked by a huge flagpole celebrating communism.

After lunch we tackled more winding mountain roads before reaching the skywalk. Robin stayed back as I went up. On the way, a truck started driving up the path and offered me and an easy rider a lift halfway. It was appreciated. The skywalk involved shimmying out onto an 80cm wide ledge with steep drops either side. The photo made it worth it.

Next we zoomed off to the supermarket to resupply before hitting the hotel.
