Bar Crawl, Ao Nang, and Mischievous Monkeys

Last night we went on a bar crawl in Ao Nang with the hostel. We got given a checklist t shirt of challenges for the evening such as ‘funnel drink’ and ‘body shot’. With it being off season the crawl only had about 30 participants. Still we made the most of it with free shots in every bar and games of pool and beer pong. The signature drink of Krabi has the delightful name of Blackcock and is a type of white whisky which when mixed with pineapple juice makes for a strong island vibe drink. After a few too many Blackcocks we went to munch a Maccies where I ordered half the menu to try all the new food Thai Maccies had to offer. It was in this moment Robin realized that she had lost her phone. Remarkably we retraced her steps and found her phone down the side of the bar we had been in hours before!

The next day we reunited at breakfast with the gang from the night before and debriefed over eggs and toast. We formed a plan for the day and decided to get the bus (bus is a generous term for the vehicle we were on) to Ao Nang beach. The sprawling beach was quiet and the water was very warm. Makes a change from Bournemouth. Like Bournemouth there were some trouble makers on the beach trying to steal peoples stuff. These troublesome youths took the form of small furry monkeys. One attempted to steal Robin’s water by jumping up her front. She put that monkey in its place with a whack to the face via flip flop.

Before heading back to the hostel we stayed to watch a fire show at a local beachfront bar. The fire performers spun fire torched and breathed fire into the air. A nice end to the day.
